Hi. My name is Jocelyn LaFemme but my friends call me Joc (pronounced like Joss). I am 25 years old and I work as an editor in New York City at Penguin Books. I also play bass during the evenings around town for various bands and as backup for whomever the specific club needs me to backup! Currently I live in Brooklyn, but I am hoping after a few more years of saving money I'll be able to move closer to midtown-Soho perhaps. I like to think of myself as outgoing and eclectic. I enjoy collecting tattoos, but only places where they can remain hidden while I'm at my "real" job. I love what I do in the daytime, but I thrive at night. When I'm playing my bass on stage at night it's only me and the stars...a real out of body experience. No worries, though, because after my set I'm back in the dressing room fixing the grammar of would-be authors. I just can't decide on which path to follow.
I love to travel and I'm currently in the middle of moving divisions at work so I will be in the travel writing/editing biz. I cannot wait! My first assignment takes me back to London where I did a year of study abroad. I've decided to create this blog (and the subsequent social networks-see below) to keep up with people while I'm abroad, find old friends and make new ones!
My favorite things are friends, movies and good wine (Pinot grigio, Riesling..etc.). The best night is one that combines all three. I also, of course, love to read and correct grammar, listen to music from all genres and generations (My fav is currently A Silent Protest! Check them out on myspace!). Otherwise I'm usually pretty laid back and content with ma vie!

project 3-captivation
I think in order to captivate someone for this persona project you would have to create an interesting story using the social software. So far I have created a facebook, myspace and twitter account for my fake persona, Jocelyn LaFemme. I don't really want to give Jocelyn some insane storyline so that she captivates people in the way online caroline has; however, there are some ways I could do this if I wanted to.
I think in order to create a facebook/myspace page that is captivating or contains a story you have to first establish an interesting persona that people want to follow. Once you have a lot of people interested in you it is easy to manipulate blog posts, pictures, status updates, etc. to create a story that is entertaining. You could create blog posts like online caroline does web cam postings- writing about certain things that are going on, ask for input through comments and then finally use your pictures to show the results of these consultations. If people are following your pages intensely they will notice any discrepancies in the person's daily life. If I make Jocelyn as real as possible...through friends, real life feelings and interests...then people will be captivated simply because she'll seem real.

Project Three
For project three I am going to create a persona named Jocelyn Nichole LaFemme. I would like to create a myspace, facebook, flickr and probably a twitter account for her. My goal for Jocelyn is to make her who I would like to be in about 5 years; working at a publishing house in NYC or London and basically just living a glamorous urban lifestyle and loving what she does. I'm not exactly sure if I'll keep this idea once I get started, but I definitely have the name down but I'm not sure where she'll end up and who she'll be exactly. I think it is going to be a definite learning process to see 1) how people will friend her and why, and 2) what traits I can give to her and who she will become.
